Daily writing prompt
What strategies do you use to increase comfort in your daily life?
Acts of self-care begin and end my day for daily comfort. Self-care is not selfish it is vital to physical and mental health. Self-care is different for everyone. It doesn't have to be hours long (although it can be) or expensive. My day begins with the gym. I always pray when I am weight-training. This way I am caring for my body and soul. I plan our meals for the week and meal prep. It is hot in the Summer and Fall on The Western Slope. Cooking in a hot kitchen is exhausting when my kitchen's temperature hits 90.
Preparing low-salt and sugar sauces, salad dressings, and drinks creates better-quality products that reduce costs and waste. My carbon footprint is important to me living in a rural area without recycling. I prefer to spend money on whole foods rather than buying a 5-dollar sauce or salad dressing that I can make in 5 minutes or less for under a dollar.
I always clean as I go along. I dust the house and sweep and mop at the end of every night. The dishes are done after every meal. Every season I declutter donating the items. I always put away what I take out.
Property management, my medical coding position, and educating our children all require I keep to a schedule. There are times we have to homeschool our children on the road. Our rental has been a problem this past year. The fact that I can put several dinners from the freezer and hit the road. I grab the hotspot and teach on the road. The school day is done before we get there. We do not have to wait for the end of the school day or the weekend.
