Only Lasting Three Hours, the Chief Commander of the Army Zuniga, Before He Was Taken in, Claimed, that the President Asked Him to Get the People's Support Back for the President, to Start the Takedown of the Government
On the 26th, the South American country of Bolivia had an unsuccessful military coup, the soldiers showed at the capital, La Paz, claiming that they are going to, "reconstruct democracy", attempted to enter into the president's office by force, the president, Arce called the people out onto the streets, to fight off the invaders. Later, the rebels backed out quickly, the leader of the rioters, Zuniga was led away by the police on televised news.
The event happened at around 2:30 locally, the images of the television stations showed the troops wearing the military vests, taking over the square outside the government office, throwing the tear gas toward the public, with the camouflage armored vehicle, ramming into the president's office, the soldiers, attempted to break into the building.
The reporters in Bolivia reported, that as the rioting troops attempted to take over the president's office, Zuniga entered shortly, then, came back out, and gave a speech with the masked police officers, claimed that the military is attempted to set up a real democracy, instead of the current governing body of oligarchy, ruled for the past three, four decades total. He'd also called out to have the many political figures, military officials to get, released.
Arce, the president posted the recorded message from his office, called out to the Bolivian people to "organize, to rebel against the rioters who attempt to overthrow the government, and support democracy", and in the support of his cabinet, announced, "we cannot allow the coups to take away the lives of the Bolivian people again!"
This attempt to overthrow the government lasted only three to five hours, with the passing of time, the situation became clearer and clearer, that Zuniga did NOT gain any of the support to overthrow the government.
Based off of the footage of the local news station, as Alce entered into Zuniga's office, Alce stated, "I'm your captain, I demand you call the soldiers back, I will not tolerate insubordination", after that, Zuniga was, nowhere to be, found again. The reporters saws the military and the tanks retreat out, and Alce, the popularly elected president, and his police department, regained control of the plaza again.
The image from the National Television Station of Bolivia showed, that when Zuniga was talking to the press, he was taken into the patrol cars. The attorney general of Boliva announced that there would be a criminal investigation against Zuniga, and the "most sever3e of punishment will be requested". Another high ranking officer, the general of the Bolivian Navy, also was taken into custody that same evening.
Alce stripped Zuniga of his position of the head commander of Navy and assigned Velasquez, and also, switched up the chief commanders of Navy and Air Force. Velasquez and Alce appeared on National Television, and ordered the soldiers on the streets to return back to their own homes.
And yet, right before Zuniga was arrested, he'd stated, that Alce asked him to start the takeover of the government. He'd stated into the rolling camera, "the president told me, that the country is in a total mess, that this week is very important, so there must be means, to get the public support on our side done this week!" Zuniga claimed, that as he'd inquired Alce if there's the need to send out the armored vehicles, he'd received an affirmative.
The head of internal affairs, Castillo immediately denied these accusations, stated that Zuniga and his accomplice, Salvado had, lost "all of their credibility". Castillo stated, "they attempted to win back the support of the people, but the people of Bolivia do NOT want another, coup d'état." He'd stated, that nine people were injured in the chaos, which proved, that "this is not a drill".
So, if the accusation of the man leading the takeover is true, then, that still just showed, how LOW a government can stooped down to, to get the support of the people, and this sis by, manipulations, because the man wanted totalitarian control of the people (where had we heard that before!!!), so he'd, orchestrated this, "show" for all the citizens to watch, but we don't know if what the general of the marines is telling the truth, so, it's still, all up in the air, and, surely, this coup d'état had, achieved its, function: it'd made the people become more supportive of their, authoritarian, government.
