The saying goes that nature abhors a vacuum. Halfway through 2024, that seems to be true regarding Bond 26.
A few examples:
--007 Magazine, run by long-time fan Graham Rye, made a Facebook post on July 2 that read: "BOND 26 - 2030."
Once upon a time, Rye was seen as a Bond insider. Things have changed in the past decade. In June 2016, Rye made a Facebook post saying that Daniel Craig "has walked away from the Bond role" and that Tom Hiddleston filmed a screen test. "Barbara Broccoli has offered Hiddleston the role."
Well that didn't work out, did it?
That 2016 Facebook post has apparently been taken down. (I can't imagine why.) See the June 17, 2016, entry in Part I of the Bond 25 timeline for details.
-- Jeff Sneider, entertainment writer: Sneider has bounced around various outlets. On July 1, he promised BIG BOND NEWS to come out on July 2. As I type this, it's coming up on 5:45 p.m. Eastern time (3:45 p.m. Pacific time, where Sneider is based).
In years past, Sneider has complained how difficult it is for U.S.-based entertainment reporters to get Bond film news. Has something actually changed? Maybe Jeff will have a nugget later tonight.
--World of Reel: This dicey entertainment news site had a July 1 post with the headline, "Edward Berger to Direct Next James Bond?" Just by the title, it's clear the outlet DOESN'T KNOW.
That's how it goes.
