The Associated Builders and Contractors Florida East Chapter (ABC-FEC) has put out its latest endorsements ahead of the congressional Primaries.
The trade association is backing several candidates that are running for U.S. Congress, including four different House candidates and one for the U.S. Senate.
The ABC-FEC is endorsing Republican U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, who is running to be re-elected for a third term in the U.S. Senate.
The ABC-FEC will support several candidates running for the House as well.
In Brevard County, the trade association is endorsing former Republican Florida Senate President Mike Haridopolos, who faces Republicans Joe Babits and John Hearton in the Republican Primary for Florida's 8th Congressional District. Haridopolos announced his candidacy to fill U.S. Rep. Bill Posey's seat. Posey endorsed Haridopolos for the spot after suspending his own campaign.
Republican U.S. Rep. Brian Mast also received an ABC-FEC endorsement. Mast won his seat originally in 2016. Now he is running for a fifth term to defend his seat against Republican candidate Rick Wiles in the Primary, with the winner facing Democratic candidate Thomas Witkop in the General Election.
Two Miami-Dade County candidates also got support from ADC-FEC. The group is supporting Republican U.S. Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart as he runs for re-election for Florida's 26th Congressional District. His only opponent is Republican Ian Medina.
Republican U.S. Rep. María Elvira Salazar received the other endorsement, running for her third term in Florida's 27th Congressional District. She has no Republican opposition and just one Democrat, Angel Montalvo, filed to run against him for his seat.
ABC-FEC describes the group as the largest commercial construction trade association in Florida, representing general and specialty contractors. It is one of 70 local chapters of a nationwide construction trade association.
The Primaries will take place on Aug. 20, with the General Election taking place on Nov. 5.
