In a new post Sunday morning on his social media network Truth Social, former President Donald Trump thanked supporters as he was recovering from an assassination attempt.
He said he was grateful to "everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening."
"We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our Faith and Defiant in the face of Wickedness," he said.
Trump also said, "Our love goes out to the other victims and their families" and he said he's praying "for the recovery of those who were wounded, and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed."
"In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win," he adds.
The former president was grazed in his right ear as he was beginning a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania Saturday evening about 6:15 p.m. One spectator at the rally was killed while two other attendees were injured.
The gunman was identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks who was killed by Secret Service personnel, fired multiple shots at the stage from an "elevated position outside of the rally venue," the agency said.
