Cover to The Search for Bond
Author Robert Sellers, who has penned earlier books related to James Bond films, is coming out with another: The Search for Bond, How the 007 Role was Won and Lost, according to the website of The History Press.
Here's an excerpt from the website:
For the very first time, The Search for Bond tells the often-extraordinary story of how cinema's most famous secret agent was cast, featuring exclusive interviews with many of the actors who were at one time either considered to play Bond, interviewed for the role, or went as far as to be screen tested.
Sellers wrote a three-part article on the subject for the fan publication 007 Magazine in the 2010s.
However, the role of Bond became vacant after Daniel Craig made 2021's No Time to Die. Despite Craig's Bond getting blown up in that movie, the end credits still said, "James Bond Will Return."
Just when the next Bond film will come out isn't known. There are no public signs that a script has been written or a director chosen. The Sun tabloid claimed in March that actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson had been offered the role. Nothing has happened since.
The History Press's website references much of this: "With Daniel Craig having vacated the role, the circus surrounding the announcement of his successor has created a tabloid frenzy, and the release of The Search for Bond ought to generate plenty of interest in the media."
The book is scheduled for release in October. The book has a price of £20.00.
Sellers previously wrote books about the legal battles over Thunderball (The Battle for Bond) as well as the founders of Eon Productions, Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman (When Harry Met Cubby).
