#NewComicsday Smurfs High Five is sponsored by All C's Collectibles who is paying cash for your unwanted collectible items, stop in today. Didn't mean to make it a mostly Image week but when you're on a roll and delivering some of the best books in the industry it's going to happen. On top of these three titles there's still Geiger, Moon Man, and the Cobra Commander TP. Marvel is running strong with Blood Hunt, but also gives us Ahsoka, and a new X-Men series with an all-new looking team. DC goes back in time to tell us a compelling story in Action Comics and an Omnibus for Batman and Robin Adventures that's a must have. Welcome to Summer, we've got five stacked high ready to fly!
Transformers #10> Shockwave's plan revealed!
Can the Autobots recover from their latest loss in time to save everyone? (S) Daniel Warren Johnson (A) Mike Spicer, Jorge Corona
Smurfs Take> I remember arguing that the Decepticons really didn't need Megatron and in some cases would be better without him. Great character, absolutely and I know this was later explored in other stories but never to this extent. Not only proving my point but driving the point home as all the typical stories and characters have been thrown out the window, shining the light on some of the other impressive characters (Soundwave & Shockwave). This is unlike any Transformers story you've experienced and it's spectacular.
Falling in Love on the Path to Hell #2> It's not love at first sight for Asami and MacRaith. The samurai & gunslinger are surrounded by the spirits of the undead and trapped on a strange island with monsters. What is the dreaded corpse tide? Who is Mohan, the strong-armed leader of the army of the damned? Can they trust him? Will they escape? You're casually invited to your new favorite ongoing as love begins to blossom on the Beach of Bleached Bones. See you in hell! (S) Gerry Duggan (A) Garry Brown
Smurfs Take> The first issue was glorious, and I absolutely love it! I knew I was going to be all in on this when I read the ashcan but had no idea I would enjoy it this much. The intro to the characters, their stories and then the end….it was beautiful. Now it's time for the rest of the story and it could go anywhere and that's not even the best part of it. I know issue one sold out in a blink and is going into reprints; I would recommend picking it up, don't miss out on this one.
Ain't No Grave #3> Ryder is aboard a riverboat where she must gamble her fate against the mysterious Madam Gates. If she plays her cards right, Death will be within her sights. If not, this will be her last trip down any river. (S) Skottie Young (A) Jorge Corona
Smurfs Take> The first two issues have been fast, full of action, and love the direction. I know it feels like a rather simple motivation after getting the big revile but in that I think it makes the impact of the story closer to home. What would you do for family if you had the skill from a life you walked away from to do something about it? Looking forward to the exploration of that question in the issues to come.
Batman Gotham by Gaslight Kryptonian Age #2> CHAPTER TWO
Upon uncovering a mystery involving ancient relics, Batman must battle against Talia al Ghul and the League of Shadows for control of a dangerous weapon. As court magician John Constantine whispers in the ear of Queen Victoria, and Professor Adam Strange explores the farthest reaches of the Antarctic, the strange rumors they're all chasing about the lost Kryptonian Age of mankind begin to take on the ring of truth… (S) Andy Diggle (A) Leandro Fernandez
Smurfs Take> I know I sort of gushed about this Elseworld story with the release of issue one and happy my trust wasn't misplaced. The art was perfect, and I like the introduction back into a world that I know has so much more to offer. Granted we have a little bit to go with this story but damn I love the start that we got.
Amazing Spider-Man #53> SECRET REVEALED - MEET SPIDER-GOBLIN! Following the shocking events of #50, PETER PARKER is a changed man. He's now SPIDER-GOBLIN, the most dangerous superhuman in the world. And his chaos is DEADLY! Meanwhile, who will stop Norman Osborn?! (S) Zeb Wells (A) Ed Mcguinness
Smurfs Take> Well the twists and turns have got my attention along with a story that is years and years in the making. I do think it's a bold direction and now I'm hooked, wanting to see just where it goes. Not to mention this is the best Spidey has been in a long time and feel like the inner eight-year-old is getting a wish answered with this story.
