If this is your day for rest, like us all you still need encouragement. Be encouraged today, by this wonderful verse from Matthew 6 verse 24:
Matthew 6 Verse 24: "No one can be a slave of two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot be slaves of God and of money".
This story comes from Numbers Chapter 22 and 23:Fits write in with the above scripture.
"No one serves two masters. For you will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money".
Money has a way of revealing what really matters to a person. It is a well known saying we all have a price. What would you do for the right price?
the Israelites moved nearer to Canaan again and set up camp. King Balak, fearful of them, twice offered a generous amount of money to Balaam a famous wise-man.
After consulting with The Lord, Balaam realized that he could not help King Balak. But the lure of money and new friends caused Balaam to think about his initial refusal. Balaam tried to find a way to do business with the king.
As a result of Balaam moving from God's clear direction, Balaam's own donkey was use by The Lord to force him to back off from the assignment.
Balaam lost focus on what The Lord wanted him to do. as a result his name eventually became a byword for greed and excess. 2 Peter 2 v 15:
"By abandoning the straight path, they have gone astray and have followed the path of Balaam, the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness".
Sometimes we may get tempted to compromise our integrity for financial gain, but we always need to consider the cost, that it will do to our relationship with Our Lord and Our Friend. Also remembering carefully the legacy of Balaam.
