Hey, Steve, you might be asking, we haven't seen you around lately. Where've you been?
No?
Well, I'll tell you.
A week before the 4th of July, I came up positive for Covid. Again. Damnit.
bleh
Yeah, this was the second time I've had it. The first time (that I know of for certain) was in early October of last year. I'd just gotten a booster. It stinks getting a shot then immediately getting the virus, but, I'm pretty sure the vaccine helped reduce the severity of the illness.
This time, I initially thought I had a summer cold. But, I tested, just to be cautious. Boom! Positive. My symptoms were even milder than before and I recovered quicker. So, again, I can't complain. It feels, though, like this will be a thing for the rest of my days. Every year, another bout of Covid, usually, hopefully, mild…until it isn't. Or until long Covid decides to enter the chat. Of course, the flu could just as easily do the same.
What are you gonna do?
This time, Lucie didn't catch it. We slept in different rooms and I ran an air purifier and I wore a mask when I wasn't isolated. We had tickets to fly to Michigan, to visit family, on the weekend after the 4th. We figured I'd be recovered in time, but we worried Lucie would turn up positive too close to the travel date. In order not to lose the entire purchase amount, we had to cancel more than seven days before the flight.
So, we did.
And then Lucie never got the 'rona.
We're still going to go, maybe in August. We'll have to see where we can schedule it.
That's how it goes.
Once I recovered, we still had a nice week off together. We went north, to Prescott for three days. The airbnb we stayed in was done up like a hobbit house, complete with a round front door. It was fun. I forget I have long white hair and a beard, like Gandalf, and Lucie and I aren't that into the Lord Of The Rings, so it was a little silly and a little wasted on us. We mostly just went for the cooler temps and the private hot tub. But, again, it was fun.
Anyhow.
That's where I've been.
