I have been feeling pretty down. I gave the house a good scrub last night. I changed the house around to fill the physical empty spaces left by Stella. Our other dog, Misty, we lost didn't have as much presence as Stella, she was content to just be. Misty hadn't been with us long, she was still deciding who was her person.
Today was the day I volunteered at the food bank, so I had an excuse to go to Grand Junction. I was taken aback by the things people are forced to let go of in times of poverty and high inflation. One woman talked about having to surrender her dog because he needed treatment she could afford. This one crippled me because we lost our dog(two dogs actually) last week. Another woman said with the kids home she eats one meal a day. An older man expressed many of the foods given out he can't eat because he cannot afford to have his dentures fixed.
Let me tell you if you are ever feeling sorry for yourself, try volunteering in 104-degree heat. We had 3 people pass out. We all worked for 4 hours today, I had brought several boxes of greens with me today from our garden. The next stop was the Catholic Outreach. I had bags of teen clothing, home decor, and dishware to donate.
I had a scary interaction when I got home. Everyone hit the showers. I was getting things put away from Sam's Club. This young man walks up and starts talking to me about a security system. I politely told him to leave. He kept getting into my space and he pulled my arm," Look at this video on the tablet." I was backing up into the house. I told him 3 more times. My husband came out and told him to leave NOW. It took two more interactions from my husband. The salesman cursed him out. He did a donut on our gravel.
I was angry because there is a no soliciting sign on the gate. I ended up calling the company. My neighbor told me they had a similar interaction with him last night. I called the deputy because I have footage of him on my homemade security system pulling my arm. Then, he put his trash in our mailbox.
