Recently, it has emerged how Eon's Barbara Broccoli is keen to do an Othello movie with Daniel Craig, including how Eon has registered with the U.K. government a filing referring to THE OTHELLO FILM COMPANY LIMITED.
The movie business is pretty volatile. Projects get started, then get abandoned.
Nevertheless, assuming Othello actually happens, here is a "back of the envelope" calculation of how it *could* affect Bond 26.
2025: Craig/Broccoli Othello starts filming
2026: Craig/Broccoli Othello is released
2027: Bond 26 pre-production starts
2028: Bond 26 begins filming
2029: Bond 26 is released
This is a relatively optimistic timetable. Othello has been in the works for a while. If there's a bump in the road, who knows?
What's more, the last two Bond movies, SPECTRE and No Time to Die had major issues during the scripting process. The writing of SPECTRE was a nightmare. John Logan started it. Eon summoned the Purvis & Wade team to redo his efforts. No Time to Die was even more complicated with multiple writers involved (some getting a credit, some not).
As a result, the pre-credits part of the above timetable could easily take longer. Your mileage may vary.
As usual, we'll see. But you probably shouldn't make travel plans concerning a Bond 26 premiere.
