1 / 1
This morning I was cleaning out my phone storage, mainly pictures and I was reminded of all I have to be thankful for; my crazy family, my rewarding jobs, my amazing friendships, and so much more.
The morning before my twenty-ninth birthday, I watched VeggieTales. Specifically, Madame Blueberry. Bob asked Larry a very thought-provoking question.
"What do you need to be happy?"
If you grew up watching VeggieTales, like I did, you know that Madame Blueberry was blue, because she "needed" more stuff. She wasn't thankful for what she had.
I asked myself,
'What do I need to be happy?'
The answer was easy for me; not much. Chicken fingers and fries.
Black coffee.
A blueberry scone, every now and then
Water.
Some Mexican food thrown in for good measure.
Like Paul in the Bible I have learned to be content no matter what I have.
When I was young, my father went back to school and money was tight. A day didn't go by that I didn't know that my parents would provide for me and my siblings. That season of life taught me the difference between wants and needs and how to be thankful for what I have, even when it wasn't the latest toy.
The answe
Having a heart of gratitude changes your perspective, as they say in VeggieTales,
"A happy heart is a thankful heart."
This next year of life, I choose to be thankful for what I do have and not worry about what I don't.
"Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content." -Phillipians 4:11 ESV
29 watch out, here I come!!
