A few days ago, The Telegraph ran a long story about why it's taking so long for the next James Bond film to come out. People are examining it for clues.
Naturally, the blog has questions.
Is there news? The piece claims that some potential directors "have been summoned to Eon Productions' London HQ for what have been described as 'a first found of speed dates.'"
But how many? Who? I don't know. The article really doesn't say.
But who might be on the list? The article speculated on possibilities. Still, some are reacting a little strongly. One example, citing The Telegraph:
Here's what the article actually said: "But another name understood to be on Eon's radar is Germany's Edward Berger, whose reputation soared last year with his multi-Oscar and Bafta-winning adaptation of All Quiet on the Western Front." (emphasis added)
Understood? Did somebody actually tell the author of The Telegraph's story this? There's no way to tell. The story also includes Berger's name with other director possibilities. Also being "on Eon's radar" is a long way from saying he's the frontrunner.
You say be calm? Why? Because Bond 26 has no script, no director, and no star. You can't make a movie without them. Also, Eon appears to be concentrating on an Othello movie set in modern times with Daniel Craig. Until that gets made (or not), it's hard to imagine Eon making much progress on Bond 26.
