But here is the Greatest Of All Time dessert, the Southern Living Strawberry Dump cake, made for Joe, who refused to eat any of it. It's literally a box of cake mix dumped over a can of pie filling, covered in 1.5 sticks of butter, and baked like that. It's my favorite kind of recipe: easy, charming, a bit ridiculous, Food Lion vibes, daring in its simplicity, comforting, photogenic, ending with 1.5 sticks of butter. The result is I ate half of it, it's nearly a cookie pie over gummy bears that have been left in a car. Crunchy chewy, it's not a cobbler per se, it's cake nor pie, but also all of it.
