Apparently, something like twenty-five years ago, Laine was blogging and mentoring young mommas through her letters. This Godly woman has influenced many of the bloggers who have influenced me in recent years. Laine is not doing well health wise and could use your prayers sending her homeward. To read her archived letters, go here. I've started working my way through the letters one by one and printing them to have as a reference should they go away. The internet can be like that sometimes! I've been deeply impressed by the simple homemaking advice and the convicting Godly advice of this "older woman". I don't currently have an "in real life" mentor. My mother is also on her journey homeward. In these times of my life, I've turned to books and blogs for mentorship in spiritual matters. I'll never forget listening to Elizabeth Elliott on cassette tape when we lived in Italy care of the military. She became my mentor for a while. I remember weeping when she spoke on suffering. I had just been through a miscarriage, but what was my suffering to hers? Elizabeth Elliott defined suffering as "having something you didn't want, or wanting something you didn't have." I wish I still had those lectures on cassette tape, because they were concise but profound. Laine's letters remind me of Elizabeth Elliott's advice. I hope you'll take some time to dig into them and enjoy them as well! Stacy | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
