Lacking Love in the Families, Can Only Find the Sense of Belonging They'd Needed from Joining the Gangs
The increased number of pickup delivery drivers in the adolescent years are catching the authorities attention. In the summer, the Da-An Police Substation caught a gang-related scam ring, three of the pickup delivery drivers were underage minors, the youngest of them, is a first year middle school student, and all three drivers had problematic families of origin, with the families not showing any care or concerns for these adolescents, after they were involved in gangs, they received the support from their peers, and were making money, they'd become members of the scam rings, with NO thoughts of their futures.
These underage pickup delivery drivers, are between ages thirteen and sixteen, were from various district up north, went to different schools, and all had either dropped out of school, left their homes, and hung around in the net cafés, hung out in the pool halls, and these teens who'd dropped out had referred each other to join the gangs or the scam rings, and every they'd withdrawn the fraud money, they could receive anywhere from one to three percent of the money as commission.
"Gu" who is seventeen, was caught by the police for working as a pickup delivery, he'd admitted that him working as a driver to make the money, that most of the adolescent males and females joined the gangs, because their families of origins lacked normal functioning. Gu's parents left home, nobody knows where they went, left him to his grandmother to raise, but, his grandmother is elderly, and couldn't manage him, so he could only, find his own, way.
"Gu" told, that joining the gangs, he had friends his age to hang with, to chat, and, when the scam ring earned the money, it'd felt like they were, sharing the wealth together, and if they got into the majors, or became a body guard for the bosses, they will have the high end cars to drive, making the big bucks, "Gu" had told people, "the future is way too far, I can only, take advantage of the present", this is the precise description of teens who'd lost their, ways.
Hao (a false name) is a youth in the Yilan Youth Counseling program, his parents divorced when he was young, he lived with his father, but his father died when he was in middle school, and his mother took over, but, he wasn't on good terms with his mother, his mother also busied with work, and Hao started finding acceptance in his "friends", and yet, these "friends", are the troubled teens, or the gang members.
"He knew that getting into fights for these friends, working as a pick up delivery person, and scamming are all unlawful," his youth counselor sighed, Hao wasn't ignorant; but to him, the ones who would have his back, who could give him the money he needed, the support, were his "brothers" in the gangs, and not his own, mother who can't find the time to accompany him, whom he wasn't, familiar, with.
So, this is how these teenagers, turn over to the "wrong" side, they're from bad family backgrounds, and because their own families of origin lacked the proper functioning, and they needed that sense of belonging, that's why gangs are, attractive to these teens, and they get involved in the wrong crowds, and, go down the wrong paths in their lives…
