"The weekend my husband and I stopped drinking was a surprise to us both," writes Bryn Lansdowne. "I was taking my first solo mom weekend away from my 2-year-old son, staying at a beautiful seaside hotel. I went there with no intention of changing my behavior whatsoever. In fact, I packed a couple bottles of red wine for the occasion. My vision was to spend three days wrapped in a Pendleton blanket by the fire pit, responsible for nothing but my Kindle and a big glass of red wine."
Well, she read something that made her decide to quit, called her husband, and learned he was ready to quit, too. They just had one big concern — but how it actually played out surprised them both.
"Just as you likely pored over magazines and watched famous women's bodies be picked apart on every public platform, your child is almost certainly taking note of the Ozempic obsession, even if you're doing your best to model body acceptance at home," writes Arielle Tschinkel. "So what happens when your kid asks you to try one of these weight loss meds? And what do you do if their doctor is the one recommending them?" She did the research!
