When your group chat has transitioned into a support group, it's time for Ladder, a Ted Turner Reserve. This experiential escape sits on 156,000 acres of wild New Mexican landscape where you can trade responsibilities for wildlife safaris, hiking, biking, bird watching, and anything else that counts as "therapy, but outside." It also happens to be Ted Turner's private home — newly renovated and shockingly warm and personal, like being invited to a friend's place who actually knows how to host. With four Rio Grande tributaries running through the property, the wildlife is unreal (elk, bison, pronghorn… you get it). And if you need human civilization again, the nearby town of Truth or Consequences offers history, art, and surprisingly great food. A girls' trip here means laughing too loud, sleeping in, and remembering what free time feels like. |
