Today I am going to talk about Suicide. A topic which no one likes as it creates a dead air.
And, I think we must talk about it because that's the only way out of it.
For me, suicide starts when someone kills their wishes inside their heart. One by one they kill their desires, passion and hobbies and so forth and all these small killings already makes one dead person. A walking dead body has nothing left after that. Some carry their load until they can drag and some don't want to.
I have heard people saying coward to those who have suicidal thoughts but that's not what it is. Suicide and suicidal thoughts are two different things and none of them are cowardly act. It's just that sometimes they don't reach for help and so we should be more aware of our surroundings.
"Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars." ~ Khalil Gibran
As a society it is our duty to care for each other and there's nothing wrong in talking to people, making friends and giving company so that you can sometimes prevent that thought which might be there.
But by talking to them, asking how they are doing, giving a listening ear to them without judging can really change their mind and often its just that moment which can bring them back and prevent from doing any such deed - which is suicide.
My personal belief is, its extremely difficult to take one's own life and imagine when someone does that - how much they have been suffering that they reached to that point - I really feel very sorry for that because I always feel wish there was someone who could have shown a little care for them!
We often don't know what one must be going through and hence it is difficult to understand but I always feel if you're living at a place where you might have neighbors, some might be living by themselves or some may be with family still, when you see them say hello! Show some care to your neighbors and people in the neighborhood, caring makes them feel much better and when you talk to them they open up - at least be a good listener without judging them and this will reduce the feeling of hopelessness. Keeping in touch with them or even a follow-up to make sure they are doing fine.
"Recovery is not one and done. It is a lifelong journey that takes place one day, one step at a time."
Today with nuclear family setup there is more distance in the family as compared to the join family system in the olden days where your siblings are living together even if they are married and have kids. One way its nuisance but if you look at it when any mishap or issue occurs they are all together and it doesn't make them feel alone.
"Take your time healing, as long as you want. Nobody else knows what you've been through. How could they know how long it will take to heal you?" ~ Abertoli
But then, many times a person is in the middle of large group and yet inside he / she must be very lonely. We have to prevent from such loneliness. The world has so much love to offer why can't we offer to people who are around us?
There are so many prevention centers where you can get help. If you feel lonely call the number 1-800-273-8255. If you are deaf then you can chat with them. September is National Suicide Prevention Month.
#BeThe1To
Please reach out and why I am saying this is because recently in my neighborhood one of the person whom I used to see often parking his car in front of our road, was so lonely and sad inside that he well planned and hang himself. He was a calm and quiet guy as far as I have seen him. But now on we will never see him and will never know what caused him to take such a drastic step that his parents had to see this day.
I wish and request people who are suffering from depression, mental health issues should reach out for help And at the same time others who live nearby or happen to know someone like that should extend their hand to reach them and help them.
Love and compassion is something we human has in our heart what is the harm in sharing that with other human being? We all belong here and want to be there as long as we can, let's not interrupt it by suddenly reducing that time here. Every life is precious on this planet, let's save them with love and compassion.
"You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection." ~ Buddha
