I love op shops (thrift stores) back home, and while I had been to some in Holland, I'd never been to any in Germany... so I asked my uncle's wife if she would take me to some!
As you would expect, they were fairly similar to our op shops... lots and lots of household goods..
I found some lovely treasures that I couldn't take home... like this pretty pink dinner set...
... and this gorgeous enamel jug...
I was most intrigued by this:
and it almost came home with me when I realized what it was:
I love soft boiled eggs but thought I could just use egg cozies on the egg cups I already have... but as I write this post I kind of wish I had bought it!!
I spied this vintage set of scales:
We used to have one just like that when I was growing up, but it was green!
There wasn't a lot of craft stuff.. just this one shelf:
Nothing I needed... oh but then I saw these:
Two gorgeous cross-stitched Hummels... Hummels are German figurines, and mum has a few in her cupboard.. I always loved looking at them when I was a child, they were so cute.
I really should have bought them... so much work gone into them, but once again I left that treasure for some one else...
One more crafty item I adored:
That would have fit so nicely into my studio!! But alas.. wouldn't fit in a suitcase!!
This contents of this shelf were definitely not something you would see here in Australia:
I've never seen so many beer mugs! Needless to say, none of them came home with me either!
It was a really fun outing and I know if I lived there I would have brought quite a few odds and ends home! Thankfully I had to stick to a luggage allowance and I really do not "need" any more stuff.. however, we rarely do when we go to op shops, right?!
