Roundup of recent DWP announcements
Cold Weather Payments
As we head into the winter months, households receiving certain benefits could be eligible for extra money to help keep warm during the cold weather between now and the end of March 2023.
DWP's Cold Weather Payments are an automatic payment of £25 directly paid into bank accounts. The payments are triggered to eligible households when the average temperature has been recorded as, or is forecast to be, zero degrees Celsius or below over seven consecutive days at the weather station linked to an eligible person's postcode.
Customers will have the payment credited to their bank account within 14 days of the trigger.
You can check if payments are being issued in your area on GOV.UK
Reducing Parental Conflict Challenge Fund
The Reducing Parental Conflict Programme is launching a Challenge Fund in England to support families experiencing parental conflict. Organisations can apply under two strands:
- Supporting Diverse Families will fund initiatives that research the needs of diverse families and support them with tailored approaches.
- Digital Support will fund universal digital products designed to supplement the work of local services.
The fund is expected to open for new applications in January. For more information sign up to the newsletter.
COVID-19 and flu vaccinations update
As part of the autumn/winter flu and COVID-19 vaccine campaign the UK Health Security Agency has updated its stakeholder pack.
The pack now includes all the latest assets, more useful links to data, blogs, videos as well as vaccination and booster information. There is also a section containing assets and suggested copy for a variety of additional winter behaviours that can be used to reduce the risk of spreading respiratory infections – these are in addition to having the vaccines and boosters.
It would be appreciated if you are able to assist through your stakeholder channels to encourage the uptake of the vaccines for anyone eligible.
