Happy Easter! So excited to celebrate Resurrection Sunday with my family! I hope your weekend was wonderful and filled with thoughts of what Jesus did for us, and love and laughter with family!
On Good Friday, I was determined not to spend the day working, as is my usual habit. Somehow, working away at household chores has become my default. If I'm not doing that, I'm working on something for the Etsy business or for my list of quilting projects! However, when I got started playing in the sewing room, I was excited to sew up a new doll dress.
Dolly needed a blue dress to match her blue eyes! When my daughter had her senior pictures made many years ago, she was told to wear a shirt that matched her eyes. Those pictures came out amazing! My mom had a saying that you never pass on a shirt that matches your eyes! Between those two ideas, I knew Dolly should have a blue dress. I also think that dolls have a color palette like people that make them look their best!
I'm choosing small scale prints from my stash at this point, although I'm on the lookout for a few colors that I don't have. The dresses only take about a half yard of fabric, so it's a good use of those pieces. I'm looking for a Prussian blue, a pink satin or silk, and maybe some solids. I may be able to find a few remnants at the fabric store that will suit!
I've decided to sell this particular blue dress, as it came out lovely. I love the tiny details of it, and especially the sleeves. I think I'll be working on making a few more in cottons first, and then branching out into some fashion fabrics. I do think she needs some underpinnings, which would be perfect for background scraps!
I hope you have a wonderful spring week! It's cold here today, but I know spring is coming!
Stacy
