I was awoken by the sounds of crying cats this morning. It is still nice to sleep with the windows open while we sleep. At 5:30, I slept in this morning. Annabella decided to move her 10 kittens from the chicken house to MY HOUSE. I put them in a cozy box until I could call her owner at decent hour. My golden was going crazy because she HATES cats. I enjoyed my coffee as Annabella would take one cat at a time and 'show" me her brood. I think this is her 8th litter. My husband seems to think that Annabella prefers me to her owner. Cats know who are cat people. She comes around often when I am writing on the porch. I welcome her because I miss having a cat. I love the way they rub up against you and knead their paws into your lap.
The owner asked me if I would like to keep Annabella and her brood. I declined because my dog hates cats. She paced by the window while we enjoyed our coffee. She would growl at them every few minutes. My husband was convinced she would be good. I reminded him that she is never good for him because he loves her too, a.k.a spoils her. I drove Annabella and her family home. I invited Stella for a run. She smelled me and growled at my legs in disgust. The man with his wife she loves down the street ran with us. He asked why Stella was so down. I remarked I had been cavorting with cats and she was disgusted with me. He laughed and said, "I bet your husband thought she would be good with the cats". His wife loves goldens as much as my husband does. She always tells me, Wait until Stella dies, you will be wrecked, the next dog, YOU will be the spoiler."
Stella's heart wasn't into the run this morning. Honestly, I think she simply wanted to run with Mike. She loves him. It started during the pandemic. She missed people. We take her everywhere. Colorado is a very dog -friendly state. She would escape and sit at his gate waiting for him to come home during the pandemic. He works at a hospital. He later told us, "I looked forward to seeing Stella when I was in Denver working 3 days a week when people were so sick at the high of the pandemic."
