My favorites from Day 2 of the 21 Days prayer and fasting included the following scripture,
Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV
[24] And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, [25] not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

This one has been on my mind for a couple of days now. One of the better consequences of Covid has been that it has opened our eyes to the options and possibilities of doing things remotely. One of the things that we do remotely is church attendance. In thinking about the benefits of physical church attendance vs online attendance, i couldn't help but think about the fact that for (too) many people, being a member of a local church has been a source of much pain.
Unfortunately the church has not always been good at fulfilling it's mandate. It has been quiet and inactive on important matters when it's voice and actions were sorely needed in society, it has caused hurt and breaking down when it's supposed to be heal and build.
So, I'd like to call us to
- pray for the Christian church. That it would do and be effective as the body of Christ as intended by God
- For those of us that are members of local churches, let's check ourselves, what is our contribution? Do we contribute towards a healthy church or a church that is hurting instead of building society?
I should probably expand on some of these ideas, but I will do so at another stage in a post that is not intended to be a quick highlight.
