In a field of dreams,
Supplied by a rich man's schemes....
Our dream boat stood
That one day would
Fulfill railroading dreams!
-
This ALCO*, one of three,
On the siding came especially....
To be transformed
And uniformed
As a mock Lehigh Valley.**
-
This tourist train over time,
Hauled freight up and down the line....
Though the company's gone
The line goes on,
Other engines are used on this line.
-
What happened to our Sixty Two,
It sat in the weeds, service life through....***
Eventually scrapped
Its life was perhaps
The best thing that happened to me too!

*ALCO = American Locomotive COmpany engine, in this case one of three Model "RS-1" engines left on that siding near a restored Flemingville, N.Y. station in the early 1980s.
**Lehigh Valley = The original railroad company of that particular stretch of track. The TIOGA TRANSPORTATION MUSEUM (TIOGA CENTRAL) would paint numbers 62,44 and 14 into the Cornell Red inspired by the Lehigh Valley Railroad. As pictured below:

***After many years of service at its new location near Tioga, PA, three RS-1's sat in the weeds, soon to be scrapped...
A sad end to a fulfilled second life.
