Chaplain's Chat for New Year
Because of things I have seen on TV and things I have observed of late, I've been caused to think of my responsibility to be a good steward of the things I have been blessed with.
Genesis 1 tells us how God created the universe, and designed the order of things. Psalm 89 vs 11 "The heavens are Yours; the world and all that is in it, You have founded them".
It's on loan to us!
You and I are God's creation; so how well have we cared for the earth and each other? Are you as convicted as I am? Are you challenged enough to be a good steward of what you have been given?
I know how I feel when I give a very precious and valuable gift, and that gift is treated with contempt. So I wonder how God feels when that is done to Him. Yet He forgives us and offers us His free gift of salvation, and the benefits that accompany that.
Psalm 23 (from the Message) "God my Shepherd; I don't need a thing. You have bedded me down in lush meadows; You find me quiet pools to drink from. True to Your word, You let me catch my breath and send me in the right direction. Even when the way goes through Death Valley, I'm not afraid. When You walk at my side, Your trusty shepherds crook makes em feel secure. You serve me a six course dinner right in front of my enemies. You revive my drooping head; my cup brims with blessing. Your beauty and love chase after me every day of my life. I'm back in the house of God for the rest of my life."
Dear Lord, thank You for this earth You created for us to enjoy. Help us to be good stewards of that gift and the gift available to us of journeying life with You. Amen.
God bless you all this week.
Chaplain Ron
