I like real fruit in my soda stream sodas. I muddled blackberries and mixed them into my soda stream carbonated water. You can add stevia or sugar if you like it sweeter. I have done this with club soda as well.
Our children love Boba teas. frozen coffees, and Chai drinks. These drinks are costly at the mall. Any where from 7- 12 dollars. Our son was dying to go to the new coffee shop this summer. Colorado is hot and waiting 15 minutes outside for a subpar coffee for 9 dollars. It is fun to have things out if they are enjoyable. Our son looks at me and said that wasn't work the wait or the money. Every day we have left over coffee that I freeze into cubes. I have these available for ice coffees and teas. Boba pearls take minutes to cook and cool.
Syrups for coffee are simple. You begin with a simple syrup made from sugar or Steiva. You can infuse fruits, and spices. My fridge has pumpkin spice, chocolate mint and caramel syrups. Savings: no waste and about 20 dollars
Plant and nut milks are easy to make with a good blender and nut milk pitcher. I usually strain twice. Savings: No waste and about 30 dollars. We use a lot of plant based milk for drinking, smoothies, cereal, and cooking.
Spice mixes are full fo fillers and salt that do not add to recipes. I make up a Mexican seasoning for tacos, etc, a pasta sauce, curry mix, and baking flavoring.
Pantry mixes can make it easy to get meals to the table quickly. I have premade brownie, cake, muffin, and a general baking mix. This allows me to make desserts, quick breads, muffins, and dumplings quickly.
I consider the freezer to be part of the pantry. I have chicken and beef gravy in the freezer. These can be easily be made into casseroles and potpies. I always have vegetable, chicken, and broth in the fridge, freezer, and canning shelf. This easily saves us over 100 dollars a year. It is a passive activity to make stocks it cooks on a stove or a crockpot.
Time consuming activites such as pasta making, it is best to do in a large mass production. Ravioli is one I make often in a mass session. Cappello is 12 dollars a bag. My family will eat 2 bags. I can make ravioli for about 3 dollars for the same amount with added vegetables. That is a savings of 21 dollars.
Has anyone noticed that the price of Smartfood popcorn is about double the price and half as much. Our son can easily eat a bag or two. I have returned to popping popcorn and seasoning it with nurtutional yeast. It has a cheesy flavor.
One of my favorite saving areas is beauty. Brow and leg waxing can be done easily with lemon, sugar, water, and cotton strips. This under a dollar a treatment.
Beauty maintance can cost very little if you are attentive to your diet and fitness. Physical fitness increases your life span, reduces your disease risks, and your clothes look better.
