The mass food poisoning from the bongkrekic acid was the very first of its kind, a major food safety incident. And to this day, the Department of Health Welfare & Sanitations still can't find a way to resolve the matter, not known the origins of the contamination, nor did the agency set up the guidelines on how to avoid, truly shocking and disappointing to us.
Based off of the toxicology center data, the bongkrekic acid is a very rare toxin, that it was from the Corm scab, the product from homeostasis, due to the lacking in smell, it's really difficult for people to detect its presence. After ingesting the contaminated foods, the toxin attacks the vital organs of liver, kidneys, and brain cell, which can cause the symptoms of lethargy, dizziness, headaches, drowsiness, vomiting, stomach aches, diarrhea, and other symptoms; at the severest, there may be liver and kidney failure, coma, with a rate of death being forty-percent to a hundred percent.

Based off of foreign literature, we knew, that the most fitting temperature for the culture to grow is ta twenty-two to thirty degrees Celsius, with the neutral pH value, for the culture to grow speedily, and produce the highly toxic bongkrekic acid.
Currently we know, that this bacteria culture had been found in China, Indonesia, and Mozambique, the same bacteria strain growing in Taiwan would NOT produce such toxin. Awhile ago, a researcher from the Central Research Agency told, that there'd only been outbreaks of this toxin in numbered countries of the world, China was one of the countries where the cases are found the most in of late. And so, a former city council member in Taoyuan made the suggestions, "don't eat any foods from China". Actually, as Taiwan had imported fruits or other agricultural products from Southeast Asia and Africa, there's a high chance that the bacteria can get in. It is truly, laughable, how the politicians spun the Bongkrekic acid as a tool to incite hate against China in the public's minds.
And, now that there'd been case of poisoning by this acid, the Department of Health Welfare & Sanitations should work with the local cities and counties' departments of sanitation, think of ways to set up the standards of limitations of the origins of these items, the temperatures of which these items should be stored at, and the means to help stop the bacteria from overflowing, and to set up the diagnostic criteria, and the standards of treatment means, to treat the problem, for not preventing it from getting into the food sources that we're consuming right now.
But, the Department of Health Welfare & Sanitations does NOT do that, to prevent more public from getting poisoned, instead, the second in charge of the Department of Health Welfare & Sanitations, Wang stated that because the Chinese name of the bacterial strain has the word "rice" in it, it would be misunderstood by the people, that they are going to change the name of this strain of bacteria.
Does Wang know, that the origins of the word "Bongkrek" was of Java origin, meaning "Squeeze"? When the locals of Java are making the byproducts from coconuts, they'd dehydrate the fermented coconut fruit. While the Indonesian "Bongkrek" means fermentation, expansion. And, the acid comes from the products made from coconut, getting contaminated in the fermentation process, the organic acid that was a byproduct of the fermentation process. The Department of Health Welfare's planning to uses the phonology of the word in English, to give this bacteria a "formal identification", it's totally, unsound, unfounded.

If the name of the "rice-fermented bacteria" having the word "rice" in it is misinforming, giving the Taiwanese grown rice a bad reputation, then, as W.H.O. suggested calling MERS-CoV "Covid 19", the DDP legislators' still called it the "Wuhan virus", isn't it also, intentionally giving the virus a bad reputation too? Double standards of the Department of Health Welfare & Sanitation, again, is it still used, as a diversion for the people, so we the people, won't realize, that the bacteria had spread out because of the department's inability to contain it?
And so, this is, one more, way that the DDP manipulated the people, into believing their BULLSHITS, and, this is totally STUPID, when the world started calling MERS-CoV coronavirus, CoVid 19, the DDP still called the virus, Wuhan virus, with the goals of manipulating we the people into thinking, that it's China's fault, when all those who'd died, only showed, that their lives are sacrificed because of the DELAYED reactions to the virus, how the DDP was too egotistical, believing that we're number one, and see how quickly the "country" (are we still one???), fell down from that high pedestal, how we went from "Taiwan CAN HELP," to "Who can help Taiwan" as the strains of MERS-CoV mutated to delta and omicron?
What's worse is that, we the people are still, getting led by these group of corrupted officials, and we're, headed, STRAIGHT into that cliff, and it's too sharp a drop, that NONE of us will, survive, and we're, totally SCREWED over, because the "majority" of the voters still voted DDP into office of the president, again, we the people are too easily, manipulated here!
