And praise Him again and again…
Almost 30 people. Let me say that again, almost 30 people. Right now, you're scratching your head wondering what am I babbling about. Almost 30 people showed up to our new home this past Saturday to help unload the trailer that played temporary home to our worldly possessions.
Yep. That's right! We finally found, purchased, and closed on a new home here in our new home town! Whew! After four months of living the vagabond lifestyle and sharing space with really great families, we have planted roots of our own!
In the four months we've been here, we already witnessed what this community is all about. They support one another. They show up for one another. And this past weekend they showed up for us. The wonderful people we call church family showed up in force. They hauled boxes, totes, furniture and more into our house. Some wonderful, amazing, fantastic men even finagled my piano inside and I am eternally grateful!
And just when I thought my heart couldn't take any more, the formed a circle in front of our new home and prayed over it and us. If you ever want to know how to get water from a stone (me being the stone), pray over something that has its heart. My eyes were leaking steadily by the time we said amen.
When everyone has gone on to the rest of their Saturday, I stood amidst the chaos in my new kitchen and smiled like a loon with tears in eyes and overwhelming gratitude in my heart. I'm always the person who shows up for others. To have so many people, wonderful humans I'm still getting to know, give up some of their time for me and my family means more than I'll ever be able to express.
The sense of community here is strong and I'm so glad we are now a part of it. Now, to see if I can unpack us and be settled by Mother's Day!
There's no place like home
