What is a Coach?
Sometimes I'm asked, "What exactly is a coach?" Early in my career, I actually really wrestled with finding the right term to describe what I offer. Although "coach" isn't a perfect fit, it does encapsulate much of what I do. I like to think of myself not just as a coach, but also as a guide, usher, and your bonus big sister who has your back and wants you to succeed.
Why Coaching?
Coaching involves collaborating with someone who has navigated similar challenges and can help you steer through life's complexities with greater ease and assurance. This doesn't mean I have all the answers or that I'll dictate how you should live your life. Rather, it means I bring both personal experience and professional expertise to create a safe, purposeful, and empowering space where you can process the past and envision your future.
There are many aspects of life that involve coaching. You don't just work with a coach when things are broken. A coach is a way that you chose to improve your life an an area that matters to you.
What Are Coaching Sessions Like?
Our sessions blend structure with spontaneity. While we focus on common themes that are crucial during significant life transitions, we also tailor our discussions to address your unique circumstances. Each session is a 50-min video or phone chat where we review your overarching goals, daily objectives, and the specific topics we've decided to explore. Whether it's breaking cycles of arguments in your relationship or shedding the burdensome "shoulds" of motherhood to embrace your true self, our sessions are designed to provide both verbal support and practical tools to foster tangible improvements in your life.
Coaching Between Sessions
What sets this coaching experience apart is the continuous interaction between our weekly calls. Via email or the voice messaging app Voxer, you don't have to wait a full week to address a new concern or insight. Whether it's a bout of self-doubt first thing in the morning or a challenging discussion with your spouse, we can address these issues as they arise, applying our strategies in real-time. This means you're more likely to learn from your experience and have quicker growth.
Why Choose Me as Your Coach?
I wasn't a person who knew from the age of 3 what I wanted to "be." But I did always know that I love talking to people, I love seeing people learn something new or get better at something, and I feel a responsibility to make the world a better place. My intuitive nature and curiosity about people and our relationships led me to study psychology and sociology in college. Although I initially considered a career in marriage and family therapy, the clinical environment wasn't the right fit. Life coaching offers a pathway that alignes more closely with my strengths—focusing not on labels and past pathologies but on growth and future possibilities.
Specializing in New Parent Coaching
I eventually found my true calling in coaching new parents. Our society often doesn't acknowledge the profound shift that accompanies the arrival of a child. As beautiful as this phase is, it also demands new skills and perspectives. Strong families, I believe, are foundational to a thriving society, and by strengthening the parental bond, we can foster a nurturing environment that benefits everyone—especially our children.
