After an unseasonably cool spring - it was in the mid-60s today - the berry patch collectively decided that they were fed up with all this cold and wind, and they'd all just as soon get this whole seed-making business over and done with, thank you very much.
The red raspberries were first. Rather than spread the season out over a week or so, they decided to get the worst over with all at once.
The wind has half-torn the branches off the canes, and they look miserable…
… but we got three gallons of berries off of six bushes!
The black caps are started.
The blueberries are going to have a banner season.
Someone asked me how I thought my blackberries would do this August. I don't think they're going to wait that long.
Even the new domesticated huckleberries that I started from seed are producing like mad.
Good thing concert season is over. Jam and juice time is here!
