But as a 30 year old with a professional career living in the suburbs with a nice family and 3 kids I now understand. You see when you grow up in a bad neighborhood and have a rough childhood you are in constant fight or flight mode. The need to do what needs to be done to achieve success and live a better life. Whether that is to have a successful career and/or the need to produce a safe environment for your children and your spouse. Once you achieve your goal of success whether financially, physically, mentally, or spiritually you begin to realize that the adults around you growing up failed you. Time starts to slow down and you begin to realize that the life you had been living wasn't the life that many dealt with. And you see that to achieve your success you gave up so many pieces of yourself and you are left with trying to glue yourself back together. So, it's like, depression is a luxury, right? 'Cause when you finally have the time and money to focus on yourself, you realize all the sacrifices you made to get where you are. And then you see that the life you're giving your family is the one you should've been living all along. So now you're left trying to pick up the pieces and fix all the damage you did to yourself to achieve this so-called "success." | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
