This week from Image we get a new Witchblade, Zombies invade GI Joe, and Readcoat continues to march on with one entertaining issue after another. DC is a little lighter as we explore the nine lives of Catwoman and we work towards the new Powers of 10 in Wonder Woman and Superman. Marvel is doing an amazing job with the Blood Hunt story and the crossovers and Star Wars closes in to the final issue for this story arc. The top five is sponsored by All C's Collectibles who is taking in new items daily, stop by one of their two stores to see what new treasure awaits. But for now, we've got five stacked high ready to fly!
Destro #2> The world is changing—and Destro means to come out on top! But with Cobra Commander breathing down his neck and mercenaries Xamot and Tomax seeking to dethrone him as the world's premier weapons manufacturer, he'll have to survive the future in order to build it. (S) Dan Watters (A) Andrei Bressan, Adriano Lucas
Smurfs Take> Everything I wanted and more! A character that I felt got shoved to the back when they brought in Dr. Mindbender and should never have happened. I always wanted more of him and was teased when he formed his own arm that fell rather flat. This is the perfect re-introduction to a fan favorite character that I expect to see big thing from. In addition, now we have the twins! I was wondering how they planned to work them in; this is awesome.
Dark Knights of Steel Allwinter #1> PART ONE
The snow falls thick, blood runs black, and color itself is only a distant memory. The legendary assassin Deathstroke stalks a frozen wasteland, killing for coin among a nation of ever-warring jarls. But when our murderer for hire finds himself cast in the role of reluctant guardian, will he fight to end the icy curse destroying his land or be consumed by the sins of his own dark past? (S) Jay Kristoff, Tom Taylor (A) Tirso Cons, Riccardo Federici
Smurf Take> This looks gorgeous! The tease for this title got my attention quickly and then I found out what it was about, and I was hooked. The Dark Knights of Steel was a solid hit for me, love the idea moving the heroes to a different time period but this was delivered flawlessly, and so happy DC chose to expand on the idea. This one is going to be hot!
Daredevil Woman Without Fear #1> After the stunning events of DAREDEVIL #11, Daredevil's allies are left more vulnerable than ever before. If they're able to survive, it will fall to Elektra and Matt Murdock to not only save their city as Daredevil, but also protect the people they love the most as they're targeted by some of the most dangerous, violent elements the Marvel Universe has to offer! (S) Erica Schultz (A) Michael Dowling
Smurfs Take> I really really really liked Elektra's time as Daredevil and more then excited to see her return to the spotlight. Of all the "different things" Marvel is trying I think this holds the most promise and could see as an ongoing title for Elektra. None the less, there's been a lot going on between the pages of this title and has been well worth the read.
Namor #1> "LAST KING OF ATLANTIS" War rages beneath the waves, from the lost cities of the Secret Seas to the fathomless depths where the Elder Whales reign. Seven kings, old and new, fight to rule the watery realm. But where is Namor, the once mighty Sub-Mariner? He's sitting behind bars on the surface, with no intention of ever setting foot in the seas again. So begins an oversized Atlantean event that will forever reshape the landscape of the undersea world while at last laying bare the dark history of Atlantis and its fiercest, most infamous defender. An epic that will redefine the King of the Seas in the manner of Jason Aaron's PUNISHER series! (S) Jason Aaron (A) Paul Davidson, Alex Lins
Smurfs Take> It wasn't long ago that I was having a discussion about Namor and how he'd been forgotten and when they do use the character Marvel just fails. He should be up front, not some background character in the FF pining for Sue Richards. When I saw this, I immediately got War of Atlantis feels, and I do think that was a story cut short back in the day, so let's see what Jason gives us for round two.
Thundercats #6> Panthro beats the ever-living hell out of bad guys with his THUNDERTANK.
(S) Stephen Mooney (A) Stephen Mooney (CA) David Nakayama
Smurfs Take> This has become more than a guilty pleasure for me. I know I have mentioned how this feels like an episode out of the cartoon series and I'm sticking to that but I didn't realize just how much I enjoyed these characters. The story to date has been great and holding to what would have been a natural progression in the show if it was still around. Yes, there's been a few updates but nothing as drastic as we've seen in other relaunches. It's fun and the 80's feels are running strong here especially with this issue as we finally get to see the tank in action and my favorite character Panthro.
