I have been back and forth from NYC and NYC ten times so far this year, I have opened a Broadway show, and also new play, I have lived tony season, I have written two pilots and taken my little family to my big family's giant family reunion. And now, I am back, and have zero plans to go anywhere for the foreseeable future, except for maybe the grocery store, and this feels SO VERY GOOD. This summer, my bar will be so low I'll hit my head on it every time I leave the house. I might finish a document, I might not (to the people to whom I owe documents: I will.) All other energy will be dedicated to making sure there's waffles on sunday mornings. As for goals and aspirations, Joe turns 4 in august and wants a vanilla strawberry ice cream cake. If I'm not folding towels I'll be researching the best version of this cake. It's my deadline, my resolution. Maybe I'll make the ice cream part from scratch, maybe I'll get it from the grocery store, either way, this cake is both my professional and personal goal, it's my next big trip, from kitchen to the downstairs fridge, as I take my time freezing it's layers, one for each year of his life. | | | |
