Well, as my readers know I have been down for three days with a fever. My husband keeps bringing in produce which stresses me out. I need to process it so it doesn't go bad. So, today, I ended up canning tomatoes and zucchini. Our oldest child took this as mom is better, so I am going to get on her nerves. Electronics are a big deal with our kids. She decided she is going to hound me for more than the 4 hours allowed on the weekend. Ah, no, so my lecturing led me into a coughing fit.
I believe that there are chores that children should do for the family and for their space. This means the kids unload the dishwasher on alternate days. It takes 3 minutes. They clean their bathrooms and bedrooms. They have a few yard chores. It may be bringing in requested produce or replanting the watermelon radishes they pulled up. Our daughter has her flock of chickens that she requested. Her brother has considerably more outside work. Still, their chores rarely are more than 1 to 1.5 hours a day.
The looks of this house you can tell I have done very little. I didn't have the energy to can 48 jars of tomatoes, however, they needed to be processed. So, I did them.
We have company coming this week. One of my husband's friends. It is an anniversary week, I would prefer that we didn't have company. I couldn't believe my husband didn't think of that. We had a very simple wedding and we didn't have a honeymoon. So, I guess the inner princess in me feels I deserve a special week once a year.
So, today I am feeling pretty raw. Everyone thinks it is so easy being the younger wife. However, older men are complicated with their habits, baggage, the generational differences, I could go on and on. There are things we will never experience together because we didn't wait for each other. It may seem silly but there are places we will never go together because he went there with an ex-wife.
